Funny. I’d not considered this before, but you’re quite right. IMHO. Someone looked at me askance the other day when I said I enjoyed ‘murder mystery’ type stories. Should I have said I am a Jane Austen aficionado? 😉.
I definitely agree about likelihood to pick up a book being very dependent on the category it falls into (especially having worked in a library where we produced displays, put on events and ran masses of stats on books issues based purely on the categories they fall into).
