General Synod and Living in the Middle
On Sunday, I went to the 8am Prayer Book Eucharist service at York Minster, had breakfast with my fellow reps from Bath and Wells, and then bunked off.
I wanted to go to Whitby, the site of another critical synod. At the Synod of Whitby in 664 AD, the Church in England threw in its lot with the Church of Rome. It would remain part of the Roman Church for nearly a thousand years.
So where are we now? Is this the end? Or the beginning of the end? Or are we still in the middle? Let me explain. It’ll only take 12 minutes and I think you’ll be glad you made the time:
