Today is Reformation Day. It is when Protestants, some of them, celebrate the beginning of the Reformation of the Church in the West which began on 31st October 1517 when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg Cathedral.
I’ll be celebrating tonight by eating sausages and cabbage. Not joking.
Would you believe that I actually wrote a comedy stage play about Martin Luther and 95 Theses? It was called A Monk’s Tale, toured the UK in 2017 and was performed nearly 100 times.
"A great deal of silliness make for a hugely entertaining hour that revels in the absurdities of one of the biggest religious arguments in history." Damian Arnold, The Times
“...moments of great hilarity... quite simply a show that just works.” **** Three Weeks, Edinburgh Fringe
It even includes a western-style song about Wycliffe and the Lollards. You can get a family-friendly, high-quality, specially-recorded MP3 version of A Monk’s Tale - and support this substack - here:
